Tigerair Australia

Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, operating as Tigerair Australia, is an Australian low-cost airline. It commenced services in the Australian domestic airline market in 2007. The airline managed services out of a single base – Melbourne Airport. A second base was then opened in 2012 at Sydney Airport.
As a result of numerous safety concerns, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) grounded the airline in 2011. Operations recommenced 5 weeks later, in August of the same year. In 2012, Virgin Australia Holdings announced the intent to purchase 60% of the airline. In 2013, the airline experienced a massive revamp by changing their brand to Tigerair Australia. At the same time, Virgin Australia acquired 60% of the airline. Virgin Australia then purchased the remaining 40% of the airline in 2015.
