Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is Malaysia’s main international airport and one of the major airports in Southeast Asia. It is located approximately 45 kilometres south of Kuala Lumpur city centre. KLIA is the largest and busiest airport in Malaysia. In 2018, it handled almost 60 million passengers. The airport is the major hub of Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Malindo AirĀ and flyGlobal.
The ground breaking ceremony for KLIA took place in 1993 when the government decided that the existing Kuala Lumpur airport, then known as Subang International Airport could not handle future demand. The airport was officially inaugurated in 1998.
