Asiana Airlines Inc. is one of South Korea’s two major airlines, along with Korean Air. The airline has its domestic hub at Gimpo International Airport and its international hub at Incheon International Airport. As a member of Star Alliance, it operates domestic, international passenger and cargo routes throughout Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Asiana Airlines is the largest shareholder in Air Busan, a low-cost regional carrier.
Korean Air, which was privatized in 1969, had a monopoly on the South Korean airline industry until the establishment of Asiana in 1988, originally known as Seoul Air International.
