Pakistan International Airlines; generally known as PIA, is the national flag carrier and a state-owned enterprise of the Government of Pakistan. It’s main hub is at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The airline operates scheduled services to domestic and international destinations across Asia, Europe and North America.
In 1946, a new airline Orient Airways was registered. Shortly after Pakistan’s independence, the airline moved its operations to Karachi. In 1955, Orient Airways merged with the government’s proposed airline, becoming Pakistan International Airlines Corporation. The newly formed airline not just offered services on its domestic routes but also inaugurated its first international route.
