Cathay Pacific is the international flag carrier of Hong Kong, with its main hub located at Hong Kong International Airport. The airline’s operations include scheduled passenger and cargo services to worldwide. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Dragonair, operates to destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance (1999).
The airline was founded in 1946. The airline prospered in late 1950s and into the 1960s by buying its archrival, Hong Kong Airways in 1959. In 2006, the airline underwent a shareholding realignment under which Dragonair became a wholly owned subsidiary but continued to operate under its own brand.
