Air 2000 was a British charter airline that started operations in 1987. Long haul services to Mombasa in Kenya were introduced during the 1988/89 season. The 757s were re-equipped for extended range and flights to the United States began in 1989. In 2000 scheduled services were introduced to major Spanish and Portuguese holiday destinations.
In 1998 First Choice acquired rival tour operator Unijet including their in-house airline Leisure International Airways. The Leisure International Airways fleet was repainted in Air 2000 colours. In 2004 Air 2000 was renamed First Choice Airways.
