XL Airways France

XL Airways France logoXL Airways France is a French airline operating scheduled flights mainly to long-haul destinations in Africa, the Middle East, the United States and the Caribbean as well as charter flights to medium-haul destinations in the Mediterranean, usually out of Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Formed as Star Europe in 1995, renamed Star Airlines in 1997, the airline was previously owned by Transat A.T., before being sold to and taken over by XL Leisure Group. In 2006 the airline changed its name to XL Airways France. The owning group went bankrupt in 2008, but the airline was saved along with its German sister company XL Airways Germany.
