Ercan is the international airport in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Turkish and other airline booking sites commonly refer to this airport as Lefkosa (Nicosia) Airport. The airport served about 2,5 million passengers in 2012.
Following the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus (1974) and the partition of the island into Turkish and Greek areas it was expanded and today it is used as the main civilian airport of Northern Cyprus.
