Belair, legally Belair Airlines AG, was a Swiss airline  operating out of Zürich Airport and EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg. Belair was a subsidiary of Air Berlin and operated under the Air Berlin brand name until the 31 March 2017. Since 1 April 2017, it flew on behalf of Niki. Its bankrupt parent company Air Berlin terminated Belair in October 2017.
In 1925 Basler Aviation AG or Balair was founded with the French name of the city Basel, was resorted Bale. Because of the global economic crisis, the Basel`s Balair and Zürich`s Ad Astra Aero had to merge to Swissair in 1931. The second Balair was founded in 1953. In 1957, the entry into the charter business took place. Later, under the name Balair charter flights were operated by Swissair. In 1995 the operation was stopped. The short-haul went to Crossair on that long haul to Swissair. In 1997, the charter business is swapped out again and flew the Balair / CTA as a subsidiary of Swissair. In 2001 the new charter airline Belair Airlines was registered. Since 2009, Belair is fully owned by Air Berlin. The planes of Belair are integrated into the Air Berlin fleet and wear their colors.
