Air Comet (formerly Air Plus Comet) was an airline based in Madrid, Spain. It operated scheduled long-haul services from Madrid to destinations in Central and South America as well as services in Europe.
The airline was established in 1996 as Air Plus Comet and started operations in 1997. In 1996 Oasis Airline ceased operations and their only aircraft and a significant part of their staff became the foundation of Air Plus Comet. It relaunched as a full service carrier under the Air Comet name in 2007. In January 2007, Air Comet took over some of the now defunct Air Madrid airline’s Latin American routes. In December 2009 Air Comet’s directors announced the airline was ceasing operations due to bankruptcy.
