Frontier Airlines is a United States low-cost airline. The carrier, which is a subsidiary and operating brand of Republic Airways, operates flights to destinations throughout the United States, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. The airline maintains a hub at Denver International Airport.
Frontier Airlines was incorporated in 1994, by a group that included executives of a previous incarnation of Frontier Airlines. Scheduled flights began later in 1994. For the first 9 years Frontier Airlines used the slogan ‘The Spirit of the West’. During a bankruptcy auction in 2009, Republic Airways acquired Frontier Airlines and its regional airline, Lynx Aviation, as wholly owned subsidiaries. Frontier officially exited bankruptcy as a new airline. In 2010 it was announced that Frontier and Midwest Airlines would merge.
