Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is the busiest airport of Ethiopia..In 2016 the airport handled about 8.8.million passengers. The airport was formerly known as Haile Selassie I International Airport. It is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline.
Because the runway at Lidetta was too short for its new jet aircraft, Ethiopian Airlines realized a new airport at Bole. In 1992 the new runway and control tower were operational.
